China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) has almost completed the plan for the second batch of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The over 400 GW of projects are expected to be installed before 2030, the deadline for the country's carbon emissions peak target.

Different from the first batch of projects which are mainly reported by enterprises without the bidding process, the second batch is under unified planning in Kubuqi Desert, Tengger Desert and other major deserts.

Based mainly in the northeast, north and northwest regions of China, the power generated from renewable energy will be transmitted elsewhere.
